PES 2013 The Reviews Hit!

By TheBoss Posted on in PES2013

Great news! The reviews are already hitting the virtual newsstands across the globe. Keep an eye on this news item to keep up to date with what others think of PES 2013.

To make things easier, we’ve fired some of the articles through Google translate to give you them in English.

Zavvi

“Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 is the best PES since 2003′s benchmark third installment. Ignore it at your peril.”

EuroGamer 9/10

“It puts us in a situation we’ve pretty much never encountered before, where FIFA and PES are both at the top of their game. Choose your favourite and have fun, or open your mind and buy both, because with PES now back to near its best this really is a golden era for football games.”

IGN 8.5/10 (link includes video review too!)

“After years of heartache for PES fans, it’s great to see Konami’s footy game finally beginning to step out from EA’s gargantuan shadow.”

Videogamer
8/10

“Like a beat ‘em up that takes years to master, plenty of button combinations must be learnt when playing at the top level. Konami’s latest outing shares the same values as arcade stalwarts such as Tekken, offering a sense of achievement for every individual that decides to press start.”

NowGamer 9.1/10

“Ladies and gentlemen, Pro Evolution Soccer is back.
After years toiling in the wilderness, riddled with depression and self-doubt, the former king of videogame football has risen triumphantly to top the league right at the back end of this console generation. It’s been a hell of a ride.”

MasonicGamer 9/10

“Has my short time with PES 13 converted me back to the series? YES.”

GamingBolt 8.5/10

“PES 2013 is a brilliant game, a perfectly viable alternative to FIFA 13 and if Konami continue to approach their game in this way, we could have a very tasty showdown next season.”

xClan 90%

“As far as soccer on the Xbox 360 goes I think it may be the best we will get”

OfficialXboxMagazine 8/10

“Konami pulls a Man-City-style turnaround”

Multiplayer.it
(Translated) That in any case due to its gameplay is certainly a worthy alternative and exciting football to be taken into account.

OfficialPlaystationMagazine 8/10

“now PES’ unique strengths are refined enough to make it a genuinely worthwhile alternative. And hey, if nothing else, it’s probably the only footy game that’ll ever feature Motherwell as a Champions League outfit.”

CVG UK 9.1/10

“At last, Konami gets it right”

Playstation Universe 8.5/10

“This is the first time for a number of years that we’ve been totally engrossed in Pro Evolution Soccer. We’re sure PES fans are going to love the improvements and its fluid gameplay and freedom on the pitch may well attract back some of the fans that the series lost over the last few years. ”

Metro.co.uk 7/10

“We do sometimes, even if it is briefly, get the feeling we’re playing a classic PES game from the series. Still rough around the edges though.”

GameStar Germany 90/100

“Less pace, more tricks. All smarter not just the goalie.”

A big thanks to winningelevenblog for the following 3 links.

Meristation (Spain) 8.5/10

(Translated) “Its finish is right and you’ll play more than a week, it is even possible that in the future you please try again. All aspects of the game are well maintained. Buy.”

3djuegos (Spain) 8.5/10

(Translated) “PES 2013 is the best title in the series has given us in the current generation, and the first to make us dream of a future that matches the dimensions of quality as high as in the past threw up the franchise”

Vandal (Spain) 9/10

(Translated) The soccer game from Konami back in the best edition of this generation, who will leave his followers happy.

We’ll be adding to these throughout the day as we find them. If you’ve spotted a review that we’ve missed, just let us know in the comments or on our Twitter page

    Taken from the Metro review...

PES 2013 has also dipped its feet in South American waters this time round by including the Copa Santander Libertadores,
Nice to see they've been paying attention the last 2 years....

    &

The players don't seem to slide around as much as they did in the previous version and the overall feel is more realistic.
I wonder if "sliding" will feature in another review next week?

Konami should advertise more about the La Liga stadiums and South American and Brasilian league licenses on their packaging. 20 realistic La Liga stadium might be a big selling point for some people But maybe licenses confirmation usually come late, and there's no time to adjust.

Those concerns have all been addressed and the game has generally been strengthened throughout. That Eurogamer review, despite the high scores it highlight quite lot of bad aspect and very few good aspect of the game. I'm not sure why it is that way, he should highlight more the positive aspect of the game to reflect his final score. I wonder sometime what's their guideline.

I always wonder why people have such a hard time with this. It's enought to download an option file and everything's fine.

The fact that editing is actually possible in the game makes it even more close to life than FIFA because I can alter stats to reflect players, change hair, faces, everything basically. I actually dislike FIFA for not giving us these possibilities because of the licences. The only advantages are the connections to ral life football with match of the days and the likes(scenarios ecc., which they ripped off btw)

Same here. It's laughable when people claim FIFA is the better game because you don't have to play using Man Blue and London FC even though you could even just change the name yourself

But it makes every single loading screen take 2-5 mins atlest (in ML and BAL to be specific). And I'm not exaggerating the slightest, but maybe if I install the game onto the hard drive it will make it quicker.

aye mate, that would be quite good if u could do that.

I was thinking as well,i read an online review last night and the person was basically giving pes 13 a glowing report. One negative they said, was that when the ball hits the net,its not as good as fifa,ie no smacking sound. But now i come to think of it,the old versions on ps2 never had that as a feature either,i dont remember the ball springing back out the net when you hit a screamer,or even making a noise? But they were still top top games,it just shows you we're all spoiled nowadays,in this age of sky hd picking up every sound.

Personally i found that extremly annoying, that net sound is gay. Also, i never pick it up when i watch live football so in actual fact i always found it unrealistic when i'd hear it. The ball smacking off the woodwork however sounds awesome in PES.

Havent logged on here in 10 months. This PES 2013 is something else. So fun to play. PES 2012 took up my time i was playing up till last week. But this feels like a brand new game. This game plays fluid and the animations are much better. Playing at +1 speed shooting and keepers are improved. Everytime I pass i hit L1 for a run and it looks so realistic the a.i movement.

I took a shot yesterday with scholes and Kagawa jumped out of the way of the shot. realism is definitely there. This is the control or level of control you cant get with other football games. I control every touch, i can take on players naturally and control the game better.

This is definitely closer to PES 5 and 6!

Hi, I purchased the game today, it's a joy to be play and I'd defo recommend it. Question though I don't seem to be able to play it in 3D, on the case it says it is 3D compatible and in the settings their is a 3D option but it is greyed out and you can't click it. I've played a few 3D games with no problem on my LG tv, has anyone been able to play it in 3D yet? I've noticed in the reviews there is no mention of 3D.
