Konami has announced a top-level partnership with iconic Spanish club FC Barcelona and also released a brand new PES 2017 gameplay trailer along with a whole host of screenshots surrounding the title.
The three year deal, which will start with PES 2017 and include other PES-branded releases including mobile titles, will see Konami gain a visible presence within the FC Barcelona matchday experience as well as extensive access to it’s star players.
This includes a prominent advertising presence within and around the club’s Camp Nou stadium which will be exclusively recreated in-game for the length of the agreement. Furthermore, if the trailer is anything to go by, outside shots of the legendary stadium will also be present, similar to the exterior views of the Maracana Stadium that were introduced in PES 2016. Club anthem ‘Himno’ will also be featured and can be heard in the trailer further down the page.
The Nou Camp will feature exclusively in PES 2017 – and looks truly glorious!
In return, FC Barcelona will have a prominent place within PES… including on the game’s cover on which five of their top players will feature – Neymar Jr, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique. A Sony exclusive special steel-book design has also been revealed, although no further details on this were given in the press release.

Barca have also been given the full KONAMI treatment in terms of gameplay and will be fully recreated within the game using the Team ID and Player ID systems to reflect the exact playing styles of the Catalan club and it’s many stars.
As well as playing as they do on the pitch, the aforementioned stars will also look as they do on the pitch, with KONAMI using advanced 3D photo-scanning techniques to implement the faces and expressions of key players.

The Premium Partnership also spreads onto the game’s myClub mode where there will be special promotions to add Barcelona stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Luis Suarez to their squads, whilst FCB legends will also be available, although no exact details on who these might be have been revealed at this time.
Many features of the partnership are showcased in a 4 minute long trailer which includes the first glimpses of PES 2017 gameplay (below) as well as more details from myClub and Master League on the mode.
Talking about the partnership. Tomotada Tashira – president of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. described it as a “real statement of intent” before adding that “working closely with a team of Barcelona’s stature we can introduce the PES series to a huge global fan base.” He finished by stating that the partnership would “deliver access to the very best players in the modern game and to one of the world’s most respected and ambitious clubs.”
Similarly, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications at FC Barcelona, Manel Arroyo described their delight at having signed the agreement, before expressing his excitement at seeing the club “perfectly recreated in the next and future versions of the PES series.”
Alongside the announcement and trailer a whole host of screenshots were released showing off various shots of Barcelona players in action against Arsenal – who will also be fully licensed in PES 2017.
