Lazio will be sponsored by Pro Evolution Soccer in their clash against Inter Milan on Saturday.

Lazio have confirmed a deal with Digital Brothers, Konami Digital Enertainment GmbH and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 to become the first club to be sponsored by the football game.The club announced the agreement on Monday afternoon on their official website and a statement reads:

"Thanks the partnership with Lazio, PES 2009 breaks a new record as it's the first video game to become the main sponsor of a team for one game in the Serie A Championship, passing from the virtual to the real football pitch."

Lazio will wear a special shirt for the game against Inter this Saturday. At present, Lazio don't have a permanent sponsor for this season, so PES 2009 will be their first.

The Italian club, as well as the creators of the game, will hold a press conference on the eve of the Inter match to explain details of the new deal.

It's only for one match though. Lazio and Pro Evolution Soccer fans will no doubt be eager to get their hands on the new shirts but it is not yet known as to whether replicas will be produced for the fans from shirt makers Puma.
