xtrap Wins November POTM
PESRankings.com have just announced the Player of the Month for November, xtrap. They caught up with him to ask him a few questions, and see what he thought about qualifying for the Main Event, and his chances this year!
Who is xtrap?
My real name is Adebayo Adeoshun, or Bayo for short. I'm 17 years old and currently attend sixth form. It’s a great honour to be the first to qualify in what I feel will be the toughest season yet.
How did you get into PES, and how long have you been playing events with PES Rankings?
I have been a lover of PES since my older brothers got me involved around PES 2 and have been playing properly since last year. My very first tourney was emirates on PES 6 I think on PS2, and I have been to one event each year since that is held in London, such as Powerleague Barnet on PES 2008, and Win a Laptop on PES 2009. From Christmas last year when I got my PS3 I have been competing going to Coventry where I had my worst tourney ever, and various offlines in London as well as a few online. So I’d say I've been playing properly for about a year but this is my first full season.
Tell us about your best achievements in PESRankings so far.
My best achievements so far have been my win in London last year and the back to back Reading wins, along with being number 1 for a few weeks, so that’s all been good. My greatest achievement so far of all time would you believe came last week in Reading! I was a second from going out in the groups to Danny and then I scored with the last kick of the game, before beating leng jay and the Greek on the way to the title. I’m still in disbelief how I won. I hope to have some truly great achievements such as a big title by the end of the year.
This month I have played in the two Reading tourneys which besides the Main Event and Emirates have been the nicest venues I’ve played in to date. I won them both, which has seen me carry my form of winning the last London event from last season into this season, so I’m happy and believe this is why I’m currently number 1. Also played a couple of onlines, but I’m shocking online! I just cant get my passing game together as its not as quick as I like and I genuinely don’t play online much. Also won all my games in the Nov qualifiers but got home late from the reading tourney on knock out night! So missed out on that so I think I'll be gaining most of my wins from all the offline tourneys.
What do you think of your chances at the Main Event this year?
This will be my second main event and I can't wait as FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME to Wembley. Last year at the Main Event I had a good run where I topped my grouped unbeaten which contained Rob Mclean. I was narrowly edged out in the last 16 by Footi, 2-1 in a game where nothing went my way and I was unlucky to lose. It still hurts but those kinds of losses have made me more determined to win this season and not let myself lose where I shouldn’t. I’m hoping to all the way this year but there’s still a lot of PES to be played, so we will just have to see what happens.
At this stage it’s too early to say whether I can win, but I wouldn’t be playing the game if I didn’t think I could win and am always positive about my chances, and bitterly disappointed when I lose no matter the opponent. So I will always fancy my chances but there are so many great competitors, u just never know.
Do you think you are one of the top players this year, and which other players do you respect?
I don’t know if I’m one of the top players. I have won a couple of tourneys but nothing as big as a Stadium Tour or a Main Event so don’t know if I can be classified as a top player yet, but its up to all the players on PESRankings to decide. I hope I am.
I have the most respect for Cesc’s and leng jay’s games. Cesc because we play very similar and think on the same footballing level, leng jay because he reads the game better than anyone I know, and can literally do anything. I also respect the likes of Footi and Greek with their dribbles and passing.
Tell us about your game.
My game is the same for everyone to be honest and as cliché as this sounds I follow Pep Guaridola’s philosophy of playing beautiful football whilst winning games and not sitting back at 1-0 etc. I go 4-3-3 all the time and will always look to attack as I believe its all about scoring more than the opposition rather than playing for clean sheets. I don’t mind conceding 3 if I score 6, but then again who would?
And finally, what are you looking forward to the most this season?
I’m looking forward to the big tourneys most of all this season, as well as the Main Event in Wembley and I hope to win them all. I will also continue enjoying meeting good friends such as Andyho, Miller, Leng Jay, Cesc and Footimaster but to name a few.
