The Greek wins December POTM

Last week, PES Rankings announced that The Greek had won the Player of the Month for December. They asked him a few questions about himself and how he got into PES in the first place, as well as asking about his thoughts on the coming year.

Could you please introduce yourself?

Hi! My name is George Tsirita, and I am 14 years old.

How did you first get into playing PES?

I started playing PES when my dad bought me a PS2. I was living in Cyprus and I was 8 years old, and the first game I bought was Pro Evolution Soccer 2.
I came to England when I was 10 years old. I started playing online when I was 11 on PES6. I found this website which I could play with a lot of top players online like Wallace, Mclean, Lee-o-mac, irw17 and others which made the website fun! The website was called www.pesladder.com. It’s still live, but not many players are playing now. I was playing for a year on this website and it really helped improve my gameplay, especially playing with irw17 he was one of the best. Wallace helped me a lot as well so I give him thanks, and Lee who was making the website even more fun.

So how long have you been playing events with PES Rankings?

I started playing events when I was 12 years old which was 2 years ago.

And your best achievement so far?
My best achievement was on pes2008 when I came first in an offline event in Bournemouth, in a shop called Gamestadium. I won myself £1000 when I beat Menace in the final!

Which events have led you to winning the award for Player of the Month?

I played five events in the last month, in the 12 Days of Rankings series, and the London offline. I lost against Maz in the semis in the London event, which was a close game, but I won all my other games – that’s why I got a lot of points. I played four of the 12 Days of Rankings events and I came first in two of them.

How did you do in previous Main Events?

I only played in one main event which was last year when Leng_jay won. I had Oz a top player in the 16 and I lost from a last minute penalty goal which the score ended 2-1.

As Player of the Month, you have qualified for this season’s Main Event. How do you think you will do?

I think I will do pretty well at this year’s Main Event as I am number one at the moment, but I still need to practise and keep winning.

Do you think you are one of the top players?

Yes I have won against a lot of other top players so I think I am, but there are a lot of players for who I have respect for their gameplay.

What else are you looking forward to over the coming year?

I am looking forward to the upcoming offline events, South and North, one of which I will be attending!
