North v South Returns for PES2010

In a little over six weeks time PESRankings will see the return on the popular North v South Tournament.

NvS Origins

NvS was first held way back in the days of PES3 and took place here in Birmingham. At the time this was easily the biggest single PES event ever held in the UK. Such was the interest level generated here on PESFan we had players from Holland, Ireland and even China make the trip to take part!

That's a long time ago for most of you, 2003 if I recall.....

Famous NvS

The best remembered of all NvS events took place at Villa Park. Whilst the group stages saw little in the way of shocks, it was a certain semi final comeback which sticks in the memory. It saw hot favourite Rob Mclean turned over by fellow Scot Marko much to the astonishment of the watching crowd. Marko then went on to win and launch a PES career which has since seen him net over £50k in prize money!!

Local Rivalry

None of the recent events though have been able to capture the essence of that first North v South, with players simply choosing which side to represent and it having no bearing on their geographical location.

So with that in mind there are some changes to the the format to bring back the local flavour.

This year NvS will take place SIMULTANEOUSLY on March 28th at 4 venues around the country:

Manchester
London
Reading
Glasgow

The winner and runner up at each of these events will be invited back to London on the 18th April to compete to determine the overall NvS Champion 2010.

Individual event details will be posted within the next 48hrs as well as details of the fantastic prizes on offer.

All you need to do is clear both dates in your diary now and decide which venue you are going to represent.
