Last month PESRankings.com and six other countries held preliminary round tournaments to determine who would go on to represent their country in Munich for the PES 2012 UCL Final.

Konami has confirmed its two-game Silent Hill HD Collection, will be released for Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3 on March 29th. The publisher has also unveiled a teaser trailer for the eagerly-anticipated compilation.
Silent Hill HD Collection comprises the second and third games from the series, both of which were previously released for PlayStation®2. As befits their resurrection, the new Xbox 360 and PS3 updates enjoy completely-updated HD make-overs, while the soundtrack has been re-recorded, as has all dialogue – reuniting the original vocal artists. The included version of Silent Hill 2 also features the exclusive stages from the original Director’s Cut supplemental release.
Awesome news, along with the release of the Silent Hill HD Collection, we'll be getting our mitts on a few copies. Although we're unsure how many we'll be getting, we want to know HOW you want them given away. So, ideas?

Bad_boy_g was the eventual winner of the tournament, and was crowned the PES Rankings UK 2011 Champion. He then went on to represent the UK in the World Finals in Cologne in August, which unfortunately, he didn't win.

The PES 2012 PC demo is now available to download, with the PS3 version coming soon.
Due to an unforeseen problem the Xbox 360 demo will now be released in September.
This demo is the first of two to be released, and is based on a preview build of the game. While there will be areas that are refined, Konami wants PES users to try out the game’s many new Teammate Control elements prior to launch and experience the realism that Active AI brings to PES 2012. Teams available are: Manchester United, AC Milan, FC Porto, S.S.C Napoli, Santos FC, and C.A. Panarol.

We find ourselves in the middle of the PES revolution. Rewind 12 months, and you would see PES 2011 demanding that you re-learn everything you know. It was the same game that we're used to yet, at the same time, was entirely different. Some loved this new direction, others hated it - I, personally, reside in the former, with the caveat that, whilst the changes in PES 2011 were good (and needed) - it had a lot of work to be done before it could be classed as great.
Also, those that have followed my thoughts over the last 12 months will have seen my scribbling that PES 2012 would need to ditch the annual cycle of unnecessarily-complex overhauls and reinvention, and instead opt for a more streamlined approach - a process of improvement and refinement, with a particular focus on enhancing the most important element: gameplay.
As you're no doubt aware by now, this is exactly what Konami have done. Which leads us to ask the inevitable: Has it paid off? Will PES 2012 finally give us a great game of football?

The most prestigious event of the PES Rankings year, the Main Event 2011, has now been confirmed for Saturday 16th July!
There are 32 places this year, with some seats having already been allocated to players via special tournaments, by winning awards such as the Player of the Month award, or through our Win a Seat competition, which has been running throughout the year.

Congratulations to Redsfan who has won the third annual vCash Dash, finishing well ahead of the pack after a year's betting! Having won the May event after amassing 91,800 it was enough for him to secure the year long title as well. For the second consecutive year, the winner of the final month has also won the main trophy. Dee finished behind Redsfan with 59,219 vcash.
Redsfan will receive 1000 PP(PES Points) to spend at the PES Points Store and a special trophy to keep for the whole year. The trophy was designed by Dogbox who works behind the scenes at PESFan so a big thank you goes out to him.

The tournament will be held in London's Hyde Park, using PES 2011's exclusive UEFA Champions League mode - and the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the UEFA Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium, courtesy of PlayStation!

The final of the UEFA Champions Festival Tournament, presented by PlayStation(R), will be held in London’s Hyde Park on May 28th, using PES 2011’s exclusive UEFA Champions League mode. Entrants from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal will gather to take each other on: bf95cf will represent the UK, as the winner of the UK's qualification event on Wednesday this week, and the ultimate winner of this tournament will receive a pair of tickets to the UEFA Champions League Final at Wembley Stadium that evening. As has been reported, a company has announced that customer account information and other personal details might have been stolen as a result of an illegal intrusion on its online service.
The personal information including user IDs and passwords stolen from the service could be used to break into other companies’ websites or services, which may cause damage in some way or another.
To protect our customers from illegal intrusions, KONAMI advises those who use the same password across multiple services to change it as a precaution.

After a few below-par displays, many were starting to believe that PES was out of the fight. The last few rounds had seen little initiative - and nothing that resembled the former Champion at it's best, but something changed in 2011.
The last round was never about winning, it was about proving that PES still had what was needed to be a champion, It was about making people believe again, it was about building for the future.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has revealed details of a free data update for PES 2011, which will be available from December 21st.
The download will be available for PlayStation(R)3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD users, and adds a number of new items to the game. Twelve kits have been updated within the game, including those of the Ireland national team and some French club teams.

PES 2011 1.02 Patch Now Out

The latest patch for PES 2011 is now available to download on 360, PS3 and PC.
You will be prompted to download the patch when starting the game up if your console is connected to the internet. PC users should be able to access the patch by selecting online mode, and your default browser will open with a download link.
There are plenty of changes in this patch, including defensive AI pressure, reduced rainbow flicks and changes to ML mode.

The demo consists of 10 minute matches against the CPU or a human opponent. The demo will enable fans to play against the computer or offline multi-player matches with a choice of four clubs: either FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich or Copa Libertadores pair Chivas Guadalajara and Internacional. There are also 3 stadiums on offer.
The download comes in at 1.8gb.
The PS3 demo will be coming at some point this afternoon. If you're a little impatient, the new Winning Eleven demo is out in the Japanese store if you want to give that a whirl before the PES 2011 demo is released.

The PC demo for PES 2011 was released late last night and can be downloaded from the official PES 2011 website: www.pes2011.com
The download is 1.3Gb in size.The demo contains the same teams as the console demos, which are FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich and Copa Libertadores pair Chivas Guadalajara and Internacional.
One benefit of the PC demo is the ability to turn off the post match video presentation. You can do it via the game settings.
The Xbox 360 demo is due in a few hours, with the PS3 coming at some point this afternoon.
PES 2011 Xbox 360 Demo out Tomorrow

Jon Murphy has confirmed via his twitter page that the Xbox 360 demo will be released tomorrow along with the PC version. The PS3 version should also be available to non-PSN+ subscribers as well, so good news for all platform owners.
The PC version will be out first, and will be available from the official PES 2011 website around midnight tonight. The Xbox version should be released on Marketplace around 10am and the PS3 version will be out late afternoon.
PSN+ subscribers have been very positive with their feedback of the demo, so it'll be interesting to see how a wider audience react to the PES 2011 demo.

Konami have released a new PES 2011 trailer from the Gamescom convention in Germany. It showcases the revamped Become a Legend mode, which has lots of new features and where manager feedback plays a much bigger role. The new Stadium Editor features, as does the Master League Online mode where users compete against others around the world to build the best team. The PES 2011 Community Day was held yesterday at Konami HQ in London. There were several community sites in attendance, all there to play PES 2011 for the day.
Several sites have already posted their initial thoughts on the game, and others will do so in the coming days. So far, everyone seems very impressed with the game.

WENB have now published their impressions from the recent PES 2011 playtest.
It's a great read and gives you their insight into what they think about the new game.
They will also have a pod cast later today so make sure you listen to that as well.
"They say there's no smoke without fire. Ever since PES 2011 was shown in Tokyo, and then most recently at E3, impressions from the press have been consistently positive. The improved competition has certainly moved the goal posts in-terms of what we now expect from a football game, but despite this the WEP team seem to be holding their own with ease so far. While the hardcore have remained loyal, with strong belief PES would somehow find it's way again, most had given up by now. These positive previews, then, have given us all hope that the king has indeed returned. Surely, everyone can't be wrong? It's this feeling of anticipation and confidence that runs through me as I pick up the controller for the first time to play PES 2011."

Congratulations to dragonskin who has won the second annual vCash Dash, finishing just a whisker ahead of Morgan after a year's betting! Having won the May event after amassing a huge 166,696 after a number of big wins (and several big losses as well) it was enough for him to secure the year long title as well. Morgan finished just behind dragonskin with 163,810. As consolation, Morgan did win the title for biggest win of the year with 156,000 won on a single accumulator bet.
afrosam was another user who managed to break the 100,000 vcash barrier after accumulating a little over 130,000.

Massive bug cripples "fat" PS3s

A nasty calendar bug has raised its ugly head yesterday / today on most older PS3s rendering many games and DLC unusable. As a preventative measure, it may be worth not switching on your PS3 until this is resolved!
Update: The date rollover seems to have fixed the problem. All PS3s should now be back to normal.

Last year's Main Event took place at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United FC. This year we're going one better, and the event is being hosted at Wembley, home of the national team!

Here's a nice early Christmas present for everyone
Konami will today release free content and an update for PES 2010 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD.
The update makes it even easier to use the game’s comprehensive formation settings, and also adds icons to show the connectivity status of online players. All settings can now be saved and Stocked Data will be loaded automatically, speeding up play immediately. Likewise, the new connectivity icons will show the user as a Grey icon, with Green, Yellow and Red icons detailing the quality of the opponent’s connection, with red being the worse.
The update also improves match making between users of the PC-DVD version of the game with different processors.
3 new balls and 10 new boots are offered as additional free DLC.

Konami's iPES – The Fan App

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH today announced its iPES – The Fan App is now available for free on the App Store. The app has been specifically designed to appeal to PES fans with an iPhone or iPod touch.
iPES – The Fan App allows users to collect credits in different sections and features four news channels plus a host of sub-games, each of which allows users to collect fresh points each day. Accessing the PES News, PES Blog, PES League and sports news streams will reward the user with 50 credits each day. There is also a daily quiz which offers users 50 credits if the Question of the Day is answered correctly first time, or 25 if they get it on the second attempt.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has released details of the first free DLC content for the PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of PES 2010.
A primer update is available to download now, and will ready the relevant hardware for the full DLC update which will be released on November 24th. The initial download will ensure that any PES 2010 Edit data the user has stored on their hardware will not be affected by future Konami DLC, while the November 24th data enhances a number of elements in the full game and also revises the club team rosters in line with those of all current transfers, all major transfers made after the game was completed will be rectified.

A new patch for the PC version of PES 2010 has been released.
To download the patch, simply launch PES 2010 and select online mode. After logging in, you will be prompted to download the update. It's 13.5Mb in size and downloads as a .zip archive file.
The patch has now been released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

With the clocks going back one hour, admin Marko decided against telling the players in the hope that they would turn up an hour early instead of turning up late! Crisps was the unfortunate player who failed to realise, calling Marko at 10.30am to ask why he wasnt at the venue yet even though it didnt start until 12pm. Oops!

Ah, the Main Event. The crème de la crème of UK PES championships. Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, was chosen as the venue of last year's Main Event, and it served as a fantastic location for the day. But we wanted to go one better this year - so we snatched up Wembley instead.
Yup, Wembley Stadium, home of the England national team, known across the globe as one of the biggest and best stadiums around – with a capacity second highest in Europe and the only 90-thousand seater found in the world with every seat under cover, we thought Wembley was a fitting choice to host the PES Rankings Season 5 Main Event on 24th July.

PES Rankings Season 5 Kicks Off

After a thrilling climax to Season 4 which saw leng_jay walk away with 1st place in both the overall Rankings season leader board and the UK Main Event (in the process bagging himself a few grands worth of prizes), it's been a challenge to think of ways to make Season 5 a worthy successor.
But we think we've just about managed it. There are still details being ironed out, but suffice to say we've got a revamped PES Store, more events and better prizes, all built around a streamlined new site layout.

With all the build up and discussion around the stunning visuals and overhauled Master League, there's one new feature in PES 2010 that has slipped under the radar. The Community Mode.
An expansion on the Memorial Matches of old, this new mode is capable of creating custom league and cup competitions with all your mates while keeping track of all the stats amongst other things.

Konami Blog: Seabass Speaks About The Demo

Seabass has updated the Konami blog to clarify some of the concerns and worries about the demo version of PES 2010 which was released a couple of weeks ago.
After Naoya Hatsumi posted an entry the other day regarding the demo, Seabass goes on to say improvements have since been made to the ball physics and consequently the game speed has been reduced.

This time he's confirmed to IGN that motion controllers such as Natal and PlayStation 3's motion wands will be incorporated in future instalments of the game. That's right, the UK premier of the PES 2010 advert is being broadcast live from the Soccer AM studio on Saturday 3rd October. And there was much rejoicing.

Due for release on October 23rd on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, PES 2010 represents a new standard in football titles. In addition to the most realistic control system imaginable, the Tokyo-based PES development team has also implemented the most lifelike representations of players ever seen. The licensed players have been faithfully recreated, with a level of detail that includes blemishes, animated faces – even the hairs on their arms and the weave of their kit!

Konami's TGS Booth

Kotaku have posted up several photos of the Konami booth from the Tokyo Game Show which has been held over the last few days over in Japan. With the development team based in Japan and with the game nearing release, PES was out in full force at the show with a large floor area dedicated to the game itself and plenty of footballing memorabilia.

This year’s competition is taking place in the idyllic location of Nice, France and entrants will be staying at the Royal Riviera hotel from the 3rd to the 4th October. The PES 2010 PC-DVD demo is now available to download on PESFan. You’ll be able to find the demo to download at http://www.pesfan.com/downloads/ and it weighs in at 899MB.
You'll be able to find the Xbox 360 demo on XboxLive now.
You can also find the PS3 demo on PSN
The game’s exhibition mode will be available to play, with Liverpool, Barcelona, Spain, Italy, France and Germany all usable from the off.

Unfortunately, no matter the keeper, they’re all prone to the occasional hair-tearingly frustrating moments of buffoonery that can end up costing the match. As a video game, PES too can be a sufferer of this problem.
Konami, however, introduced the manual keeper in an attempt to combat this some time ago. But why is it a useful tool to have? We asked PESFan referee Keenandinho, one of the strongest advocates of the manual keeper you'll ever find, why it’s such an important feature to have.

Are any Championship teams in ML? What about other licenses?
No, there are no Championship teams in at this stage. Ligue 1, Serie A and Eredivisie are all fully licensed, with La Liga partially licensed with 10 teams and Liverpool and Man Utd licensed in England’s top division.
How many team’s in D-2?
18, and these can be replaced with edited teams from ‘OTHER B’ to create a custom second division.
Can I still change the teams in the top divisions?
Yes you can. For example you could swap out Liverpool for Celtic or Inter Milan for Team F if you so wished

Top 5 Favourite PES2010 Improvements

In the past week I’ve seen PES make some serious strides at going back to its simulation roots, and here I’ll take a look at my top 5 favourite new additions in PES2010, as well as a few old friends set to return.
5. Increased Control.
360-degree control is set to feature on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of PES2010 using the analogue sticks on their controllers. Playstation 3 owners will also be take advantage of the PS3’s sensitive d-pad, but movement can still either be controlled via analogue or d-pad on all formats. Invisible walls surrounding a throw-in are now gone, and auto-slides/clearances seem to have vanished.
Manual keeper has also returned. Hurrah!

2010 Master League Play Through - Part 2

I'd been knocked out of the England Cup, the Europa League, and Nathan Delfouneso loathed me for playing him as a midfielder. With the first half of the season still fresh in my mind, I was ready to continue on my jolly journey of Master League discovery and tackle the remaining 5 months of blood, sweat, and tears.
I'd finished the year quite poorly, and thought nothing would benefit me more than giving my squad a little nip and tuck in certain areas. They say that when in Rome, do as the Romans do, so I figured that when in the transfer window, make...transfers. Ahem.

PES 2010 Release Dates Announced

We’ve just had confirmation from Konami on the UK release dates of PES 2010 for all formats, hurrah!
PS3/Xbox 360/PC versions of the game will be released on October 23rd
PS2/PSP versions will get a November 6th release.
And finally the Wii instalment is set for a November 20th release.
Europe release dates are a day earlier.
The countdown hath begun.

We’re starting to get the first few press reactions from around the world as journalists everywhere play the latest PES2010 code. More will be posted as and when we see them, but so far the feelings seem to be positive.

..there's no question Konami has turned sharply away from the cul-de-sac into which the series appeared to be disappearing last year, and if nothing else PES 2010 looks like it will serve as a decent manifesto for the Japanese developer's future plans.
...just as worthy of applause is the increased transparency off the pitch, with a number of structural changes that allow you to understand and adjust players, positions and tactics without the need for laborious trial-and-error.

360-degree control will be available on both the PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of the game via the analogue sticks on the respective controllers. The system will allow players to spread the ball with ease, opening up new attacking and defensive possibilities. PLAYSTATION®3 owners will also benefit when using the Dual Shock’s D-Pad, but Xbox 360 and Win D-Pads are limited to eight-directional control due to technical limitations of the hardware.

Does the crowd make any noise relevant to action on pitch?
Yes. Depending on if you play a home or away game, the overall fans will react accordingly. If an away team has the ball for too long they will begin to get jeered, with the home team getting more regular cheers. Same goes for goals/fouls/pen appeals/etc.
What’s the situation with selecting kits?
Like PES2009, the team is restricted to only 2 kits each and different elements of the kits are not interchangeable.
Do a player’s stats change when being placed in different positions?
Yes. The players overall ability number will drop depending on if you play him out of position. Play a striker in CF position and he might have 76, move him to LB and it might drop to 27.
PES2010 Hands-On

Tell you what Jon, it’s that time of the year again. Yup, Konami have released the latest code of PES2010 to the press, and here at the bright lights of PESFan towers we’ve managed to get our grubby little mitts on it for your benefit. Oh happy days.
As always when trying a new build of PES for the first time, I headed straight for Exhibition mode. What better way to test the ins and outs of a new code than by reliving that most classic of world football matches - West Midlands Village vs. East London.
The first thing that struck me about the game was just how hard it was to run with the ball now. Granted, every time I play a new version of PES there’s always that little adjustment period, but I was completely beyond all redemption. Every time I tried to dribble around a player I came unstuck, it seemed almost impossible. Even faster members of the squad like Ashley Young could only run a finite amount before being thwarted by a member of the Hammers defence. Before I knew it, I was a goal down inside 10 minutes. What on earth was I doing wrong?

We’ve got a jam packed schedule next week guys, jam packed. Starting on Monday at 10am, we’ll be posting both our in-depth PES2010 preview and the Q&A session we’ve been working on (filled with answers to a tonne of questions you’ve been asking).
There’ll also be our Master League play test article on Tuesday. My ML season is going terribly, but the mode itself is coming along nicely, expect as much info as we can provide on the 18th.
On the 19th, we’ll be releasing some further information straight from the mouth of favourite fish-man, Shingo “Seabass” Takatsuka, when he’ll be giving his live presentation at Gamescom. What this means, we don’t quite know, but be assured you’ll find out as soon as we do.

PES2010 Card and Team Style Video

In one of Konami's slickest videos to date, fans are finally able to see gameplay (albeit only fleeting glimpses) of PES 2010 for themselves after reading so much about it in the past few months.
Opening up with footage from the studio tour, the video then mixes the descriptions of the Team Style sliders with gameplay footage of them in action. Konami also make a point of saying how they’ve worked on overhauling the AI elements of the game, with a much higher focus on team strategy, with segments highlighting the effects of how changing the slider bars work in-game.

Last Friday our very own Rikki T (TthIRtYThreE) was at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground as part of his prize for becoming the UK’s PES Star. There, he had the experience of meeting one of the world’s best strikers in Fernando Torres. Here’s what he told us about his time:
"On the day I was so nervous and excited about meeting Torres. All I could think to myself while travelling there was, ‘What shall I say?’
When he came out of the room my heart was beating so fast, ha! I turned into a big kid, just couldn’t believe it was him really. Then I got introduced to him and I must say he is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met, just his attitude and how he took pictures with me was brilliant.
